The house of vanishing walls

Immersed in a veritable oasis of vibrant Corsican greenery, and just a lazy stroll from a nigh-deserted sandy beach, Sintineddu is a pure white contemporary home where magical geometrical forms play tricks on the eye, and the lines between indoor and outdoor living are blurred to the point of vanishing. Sea views and manicured gardens open up on one side, while on the other, a perfect 'yin' to the 'yang' of the former, a shaded, hush-hush al fresco area cocoons guests in an atmosphere of exquisite seclusion.

The Area
Sintineddu sits on a little beach-flanked promontory on the south coast of Corsica, just over 20km northwest from Bonifacio. This section of the coast is characterised by a series of little coves and bays, many of which have lovely little sandy beaches.
A must-see for anyone staying at Sintineddu is Bonifacio, one of Corsica's most dramatically positioned and picturesque towns. Teetering perilously on a high cliff above the sea it offers sublime views over to Sardinia and some good restaurants and bars.
Less than an hour's drive northwest is the panoramically positioned, mediaeval town of Sartène, whose pretty labyrinth of streets gives an idea of Corsican life away from the coastline.
Heading up the east coast one comes to a series of delightful beaches, including those of Santa Giulia, Tamaricciu and Palombaggia, and Porto Vecchio, another of Corsica's many charming towns offering a good selection of shops, bars and restaurants and a nice old town centre looking over the large natural harbour.
Further afield on the west coast is the island's capital, Ajaccio, which is well worth a visit, not least so you can say that you've been to the birthplace of the great Napoleon.
