The Area
Located in the largely unspoilt area of Sari-Solenzara, about a third of the way up Corsica's east coast, Canella is well placed for exploring many of the island's great treasures, from picturesque seafront towns to the spellbinding forested mountains of the interior.
Canella is also a great spot for beach lovers: apart from the rocky sea access and limpid waters at the bottom of the garden, there are plenty of sandy beaches to enjoy in the vicinity, not least Plage de Canella, whose idyllic arc of sand is just a couple of minute's walk away. This beach is also home to a couple of restaurants, meaning that guests wishing to dine out need not worry about driving. A few kilometres up the coast is the lovely bay of Cala d'Oro, while to the south, just a 5/10-minute drive away are the sandy beaches of Favone and Targo.
Keen walkers have many wonders to discover on their doorstep and a great place to start is the dramatically beautiful Polischellu waterfalls, tucked away in the glorious mountain scenery.
Porto Vecchio, with its charming old town centre, natural harbour, shops, bars, street market and restaurants, is just 45 minutes to the south, and Bonifacio, one of Corsica's most dramatically positioned, historic and panoramic towns is just an hour away.
For those who love adventurous driving, a trip over the mountains to the island's capital, Ajaccio, is recommended. The town itself has much to offer visitors, who come away delighted to have visited the birthplace of the great Napoleon.

We wanted stunning sea views; six bedrooms; easy access to a nice beach; the capacity for a special celebration; and a caring and attentive organization to assist with complex coordination of activities for a variety of interests and abilities. The Thinking Traveller gave us all that and much more with Canella. The villa is quite special, perched on a rocky prominence overlooking the Tyrrhenian Sea. Its main level houses its living space with a spectacular patio and two bedrooms, a generous kitchen, workout room and laundry facilities. Below the patio are three separate en-suites, which gave our three children and their spouses full privacy and easy access to the grounds. The guest house was a haven for my wife and me to enjoy our own private mini vacation. A private patio behind the guest house sported its own stunning views and direct access to the rocky shoreline in the late evening and early morning. A stay at Canella will create memories that will last a lifetime.

Canella was absolutely perfect for our group. This was probably the first time that a villa I've booked was actually more beautiful and perfect in person than in the photos! The view was incredible, the proximity to the water and the beach was ideal, and the setup gave everyone just enough privacy and just enough nice spaces to hang out as a group in.

Canella was wonderful and everything was perfect. It's a great place, right on the sea.

Canella is a gorgeous property, with amazing views and beach! We would return for the absolutely beautiful location, the well-manicured gardens and the access to the sea and rock pools. Short walk to beach and restaurants.

Wonderful stay at Canella. It is a beautiful villa located in a secluded spot with magnificent views just above the water with your own rock pools and easy access to Canella Beach.

Canella is a beautiful villa in a stunning location. Magnificent panoramic views with private rocky coves, plus very short walk to beautiful sandy beach with two beach restaurant/bars. The villa was very clean on arrival and every one was very impressed.
