The Area

One of the great attractions of Palazzo Ducale Guarini is its location in the centre of the town of Scorrano, which has a charming square, a market, an osteria/restaurant and assorted bars and shops. Scorrano itself is in an excellent position for exploring all that Salento has to offer. It's just twenty minutes drive from the fortress city of Otranto on the Adriatic coast, and half an hour from "the capital of Baroque" that is Lecce. The neighbouring town of Maglie, just 3km up the road, is a jewel of Baroque in itself, and famous locally for its evening passeggiata and all the fashionable activity that goes with that. The Ionian cost is not far either, with the stunning town of Gallipoli just 40 minutes drive away.

Palazzo Ducale Guarini was stunning! Beautifully restored and decorated with traditional touches that paid homage to its history. It was also so clean!! The pool and the grounds were also wonderful. Would we return? Yes, yes, I am already planning my stay for next year!
