The Area
The charming little village of Bagnolo del Salento is situated in southeast Salento just a 20-minute drive from the Adriatic coast, a selection of beaches, the historic walled fortress port of Otranto and the cliff top castle of Castro.
There are plenty of opportunities locally for exploring the historic and rural culture of this area of Salento, and many of the nearby towns such as Minervino, Melpignano, Muro Leccese, Maglie and Poggiardo are blessed with beautiful architecture, centuries-old traditions and some great trattorie.
The stunning UNESCO World Heritage Site of Lecce and the fortified island town of Gallipoli are both easy day trips, as are the white sand beaches of the Ionian coast.

Bernardini de Pace is a spectacular villa that I will remember forever and hope to return to. Every single detail has been thought about at this villa, every bedroom is a master bedroom, the spa is so professionally equipped, the pool area and social spaces are truly divine – we never wanted to leave. The villa staff were superb, lunches spent on the terrace overlooking the local town was so special and the dining room which we used at night was unlike anything else and the food? Remarkable. Aside from being right in the heart of a Puglian town, what’s special about the villa is the music features and instruments in the house – if you are looking for a fun time – this villa is the one. Wine lovers will also love the incredible wine cellar!
