The Area
Masseria Acquadolce is set in the gentle Salento countryside, surrounded by centuries-old olive groves and woods. The area is dotted with charming rural towns such as Taurisano, Ugento, Miggiano and Specchia, in each of which you will find local markets, restaurants, some lovely architecture and a sense of the simple life. The sandy beaches of the Ionian coast are a short drive away past Ugento, and you may choose between free beaches and some stylish lidos.
The baroque jewel of Lecce is less than an hour's drive to the north, and is a great day out for anyone interested in Italian art and architecture of the 17th and 18th centuries. Further south, the "turn of the century" resort town of Leuca, right on the "heel" of Italy, with its Liberty villas is also well worth a visit. Meanwhile, a short drive to the northwest will take you to the fortified island town of Gallipoli, with its lovely old centre, its sea-front fish restaurants and a gently bustling atmosphere.

The experience was excellent, authentic and spotless. Masseria Acquadolce was beyond imagination and the location is very remote and secluded - perfect for relaxing or an intimate private party. We all loved it!

The moment we reached the private road lined with trees that opened up the main gate of Masseria Acquadolce everything about the experience exceeded any expectations I might have had. Everyday we woke up to a beautiful spread on the terrace under a canopy of jasmine flowers. Lounging all day by the pool, dipping into the cool refreshing waters. The architecture was particularly beautiful with many hidden nooks and areas to explore and the views from the roof terrace were stunning. It’s hard to sum up how special this experience was beyond saying you had to be there.

Oh my: Masseria Acquadolce is gorgeous and the pool!!! The pool!!!! Fabulous. How do we discuss this magnificent property? We find ourselves lacking the vocabulary to describe its beauty. The pool is massive and has lots of seating on all sides. The grounds are lovely and it’s very quiet at night due to its remote location. Still, you are not far from beaches and towns in order to enjoy day trips. The villa itself is overwhelmingly charming and elegant. It is very large however is tastefully and thoughtfully furnished so that it feels welcoming and cozy. One feels each piece of art, each coffee table, every light fixture was chosen with such care. Each of the 8 bedrooms has its own charm; all with en-suite washrooms. The fixtures are wonderful; the linens to die for. The housekeeper was amazing and could not have been sweeter. We enjoyed her dinners and breakfasts and how silently she went about tidying the surroundings without being intrusive. We all hugged her when we left, like we were leaving family! The kitchen and pantry are as massive as the pool. This is a place to cook!! One would want for nothing in this kitchen. This would be an amazing venue to hold a celebration. It exudes warmth and charm and we absolutely hated to leave! It could not be more perfect.
