The Area
Leucasia occupies a panoramic position about 2km outside Santa Maria di Leuca at the southernmost tip of the Salento peninsular, where the Ionian and Adriatic seas meet. The town has long been a magnet for the wealthy classes of Puglia, who came to build lavish seaside homes here in the early 20th century. The legacy of this is a superb collection of Liberty style buildings, plenty of restaurants, bars, shops and gelaterie, a beach, and a large marina.
There are many fabulous sandy beaches, coves and grottos to explore within a 10-minute drive of Leuca. These can be even better visited from the water, and it is easy to arrange boat or yacht rentals in the marina.
Within easy driving distance is delightful baroque Lecce, the fortified island town of Gallipoli and lovely Otranto.

I would most certainly recommend this villa in Santa Maria Di Leuca. The home is spacious and beautiful with magnificent views, and well equipped. Our welcome "pack" was far more than we expected....fresh pasta, vegetables, fruit, bread & pastries. The pool area is perfect and also enjoys amazing views. The villa is spacious and perfect for families or three couples. The staff were very efficient and eager to provide any help we needed. My only criticism would be that it is a longer walk into town than advertised. We would most certainly book this villa again if our travels took us to the Salento region again.
