The Area
Il Castello di Caprarica is situated just outside the centre of the charming town of Tricase, whose baroque centre, restaurants, shops and bars (including Farmacia Balboa, a bar that is part-owned by Taylor Hackford, Oscar-winning film director and husband of Helen Mirren) just an easy stroll away. The Adriatic coast is just a quick drive away and within 10-30 minutes' drive one can be at Tricase Porto, Il Ciolo (a deep rocky inlet that's great for swimming), Marina di Novaglie (home to one of Puglia's best seafront fish restaurants), Santa Maria di Leuca and the sandy beaches of the Ionian coast.
A 45-minute drive up the scenic coast road will take you to gorgeous Otranto with its castle, beach and historic centre. Beautiful Baroque Lecce, meanwhile, is just a 50-minutes drive away and the fortified island town of Gallipoli is even closer. You won't be at a loss for things to see and do!

The house manager at Casetello di Caprarica was amazing. She was thoughtful, helpful and great fun. Her team were excellent and friendly. They made our stay really comfortable and memorable. We were provided with some first class meals by the in-villa cooks while we were at the Castello.

The grounds and the swimming pool at Castello di Caprarica were excellent. The housekeeper and staff at the villa were also excellent.

We had the best time in Tricase. Castello di Caprarica was perfect for our large, boisterous family and the children had an amazing time. It was a smashing success thanks to housekeeper, who was an unbelievable host with a lovely demeanor, great sense of humor, and incredible cooking skills! She made us all feel at home and very comfortable. It was a pleasure to meet her and I am so grateful to her and the lovely people she brought in to make this such a memorable week that we will never forget.
