The Area
Ortikia is situated in the southeast of Lefkada, just over the water from the neighbouring island of Meganissi, a few minutes drive from the village of Poros and a 15-minute drive from the beach, harbour and seafront tavernas of Mikros Gialos, where it is also possible to rent boats.
Exploring the island of Lefkada, which is 35km long and 15km wide, is relatively easy in a week (if you can pull yourselves away from the views and pool of the villa!) and offers a great deal to see and do. The azure, transparent waters of the Ionian Sea are a real attraction and the varied coastline includes a host of golden sandy beaches and the dramatic white cliffs Cape Lefkatas on the southern tip. The wooded mountains of the interior, some of which rise to over 1100m, offer excellent walking, some truly beautiful scenery and a scattering of unspoilt villages where the way of life remains profoundly connected to the island's ancient traditions and customs.
At its northern point Lefkada is connected to mainland Greece by a causeway and, via frequent ferry services from the ports of Nidri and Vasiliki, to several of the other islands of the Ionian archipelago (including nearby Meganissi), making it eminently possible to explore further afield.

Boat trips in Lefkada
The azure, transparent waters of the Ionian Sea are a real attraction and the varied coastline boasts a host of sandy beaches, secluded pebbly coves and dramatic white cliffs, such as those of Cape Lefkatas on the southernmost tip. Most beaches can be reached by car and a walk, though a few are only accessed via sea, a good excuse for hiring a boat for a day or two.

What stood out about Ortikia for us? The quality of the villa and the views. It was lovely that we had a welcome package of food, drink and wine. The kitchen was well equipped and there are great areas to BBQ and eat outside. We loved the area, the quiet and the nice local harbours to visit for dinner.

Ortikia is in the most fabulous position with extraordinary views across the southeast of Lefkada and over to Ithaca, Kefalonia and Meganissi. The rooms in the villa are all a very good size, particularly the spectacular master suite, and the villa is comfortable and very well-appointed - all the kitchen equipment that you could imagine and an easy-to-use and very effective built in barbecue. Effective air-conditioning and wonderfully quiet nights. In summary, we spent a wonderful two weeks in a stunning house in a spectacular location.

Ortikia was almost perfect in all aspects. We really enjoyed the lovely walk from the villa to the gorgeous beaches on the way to Desimi, with the crystal blue water of the sea on one side, the green mountainside on the other, views to die for throughout.

Ortikia exceeded all our expectations in every way. The view across the pool was absolutely stunning and it was the best we have ever seen. The house was spacious, tastefully decorated and extremely well equipped and stocked. We could find everything we needed in the kitchen and the sense of space was fabulous. Ortikia was in the middle of the nature and away from any other house so that it was the best place to relax.
