The Area

Guests staying at Villa Farli are spoilt for sandy beaches and shallow turquoise waters. Just a five-minute drive away is the 1.7km-long beach of Sampieri, one of the loveliest in the southeast of Sicily. Also nearby, within a 10 to 30-minute drive are the beaches of Cava d'Aliga, Marina di Modica, Donnalucata and Marina di Ragusa, all of which have lidos, restaurants and water sports facilities. The beaches in the area of Marina di Ragusa have received several consecutive "Bandiere Blu", attesting to the cleanliness of the water and their general ecological excellence.

In terms of culture and history, Villa Farli is extremely well positioned, just outside the delightful town of Scicli and close to the other baroque pearls of the Val di Noto UNESCO World Heritage Site, including Modica, Ragusa and Noto.

Scicli itself has a good range of restaurants, shops, bars, cafés and gelaterie, and its delightful old town centre is one of major locations used in the Inspector Montalbano TV series.

Slightly further afield, yet also within easy driving distance, is the multi-millennial town of Syracuse and the unspoilt beaches of coastal scenery of Vendicari Nature Reserve.

From here until the southeasternmost tip of Sicily, the coastline is an uninterrupted stretch of sandy beach, dotted with picturesque little resort towns, including Punta Secca (Inspector Montalbano's home), Marina di Ragusa, Donnalucata, Cava d'Aliga, Sampieri and Marina di Modica. The last strip, made up of several miles of dunes, is where the Allied forces landed in the 2nd World War. At the southernmost tip of Sicily is Isola Delle Correnti, offering an almost African scenario. Indeed, here we are considerably further south than Tunis.Just around the southeastern tip and heading north up the east coast, are the beaches of Marzamemi, San Lorenzo and Vendicari Nature Reserve. The reserve's salt water lagoons and varieties of flora offer the ideal habitat for a wide range of fauna, including nesting turtles and migrating flamingos.Continuing up the east coast, between Vendicari and the historic Greek town of Syracuse, are the popular sandy beaches of Marina di Noto, Calabernado, Marina di Avola, Gelsomineto, Fontane Bianche and Arenella.

Nero D’Avola, Cerasuolo di Vittoria, Frappato, Syrah and Moscato Bianco are just a few of the grape varieties cultivated in the Noto area, and we heartily recommend a vineyard visit during your stay. We know the right people and the most prestigious wineries in the area, and we’d be delighted to arrange a chauffeured wine tasting tour with lunch for you.

Our stay at Villa Farli was magical. The villa itself is lovely, the owners are quite passionate and really caring, and our Local Specialist made the entire trip, every detail easy, really effortless. He made it amazing.

We had an incredible week with family and friends celebrating a combined 40th birthday at Villa Farli. The villa is absolutely lovely and perfect for families and groups with children (provided they are able to swim as the pool is open access) which will allow parents to relax, as was the case with our older kids. Wonderful weather, food, wine, beaches and lovely small towns are all nearby. Sicily is a great destination, we loved the simplicity of it all and the slow down from normal rushed life.

We are a family of 20 with small children and babies plus one man with a disability. The fact that there are 4 different sleeping areas made the holiday a success, as everyone had their own space when not together by the pool or meal times. The guest house has a ramp and once inside is extremely accessible (the ramp is quite steep and wouldn't be accessible without help) but each living area was extremely comfortable and the huge beautiful garden was a delight to be in. The pool area is also far enough away from the house to be safe for children. It is the most stunning pool area with lots of comfortable sun beds, and many chill-out areas.

Villa Farli far exceeded our already high expectations. The house and grounds are exceptionally beautiful, well maintained, with so many lovely appointments and aesthetically pleasing spaces. The villa and its surrounds are an oasis of peace, beauty and tranquillity in the loveliest settings. We enjoyed every minute of our visit to this very special place. Our hosts treated us with warmth, hospitality and exceptional service. We can’t recommend it more highly!

My friends and I had a wonderful experience at Villa Farli - so much so that we didn't want to leave on some days for excursions outside of the villa.
