The Area
Nido d'Estia is ideally located for those who love both lazing on sandy beaches and exploring fascinating, historic towns. The sandy beach of Marina di Ragusa is just a 10-minute drive away and there are many other beaches along the coast (including Donnalucata, Cava d'Aliga, Punta Secca and Sampieri) that are between 15 and 25 minutes' drive. The beaches in the area of Marina di Ragusa have received several consecutive "Bandiere Blu", attesting to the cleanliness of the water and their general ecological excellence.
In terms of beautiful towns oozing history, Nido d'Estia could hardly be better placed: the UNESCO-protected Baroque pearls of Scicli, Modica, Ragusa and Noto. Siracusa is also within easy driving distance as are the quiet beaches of the Nature Reserve at Vendicari.
Finally, for fans of Montalbano, a visit to Punta Secca, home to the Inspector's house, is a must.

DiscoverPrivate boat charters in Southeast Sicily
From here until the southeasternmost tip of Sicily, the coastline is an uninterrupted stretch of sandy beach, dotted with picturesque little resort towns, including Punta Secca (Inspector Montalbano's home), Marina di Ragusa, Donnalucata, Cava d'Aliga, Sampieri and Marina di Modica. The last strip, made up of several miles of dunes, is where the Allied forces landed in the 2nd World War. At the southernmost tip of Sicily is Isola Delle Correnti, offering an almost African scenario. Indeed, here we are considerably further south than Tunis.Just around the southeastern tip and heading north up the east coast, are the beaches of Marzamemi, San Lorenzo and Vendicari Nature Reserve. The reserve's salt water lagoons and varieties of flora offer the ideal habitat for a wide range of fauna, including nesting turtles and migrating flamingos.Continuing up the east coast, between Vendicari and the historic Greek town of Syracuse, are the popular sandy beaches of Marina di Noto, Calabernado, Marina di Avola, Gelsomineto, Fontane Bianche and Arenella.
DiscoverWine tastings in Southeast Sicily
Nero D’Avola, Cerasuolo di Vittoria, Frappato, Syrah and Moscato Bianco are just a few of the grape varieties cultivated in the Noto area, and we heartily recommend a vineyard visit during your stay. We know the right people and the most prestigious wineries in the area, and we’d be delighted to arrange a chauffeured wine tasting tour with lunch for you.
DiscoverPrivate guided tours in Southeast Sicily
The southeastern tip of Sicily is home to mile after mile of largely unspoilt sandybeaches and an impressive list of UNESCO World Heritage Sites: Syracuse and the Rocky Necropolis of Pantalica, the towns ofthe Val di Noto, and Villa Romana del Casale.

Nido d'Estia has beautiful interiors and exteriors. It's fantastically equipped, nothing missing at all, wonderfully clean, everything worked! Excellent house manager and great chef. It's peaceful and we enjoyed relaxing in delightful surroundings with the help of lovely people to guide us, ensuring we had everything we could ever need. We are very happy to have been introduced to The Thinking Traveller by our friends and will look forward to booking again in the future. The Thinking Traveller knows and understands their customer base that is for certain. Well done, great job!

Our stay at Nido D'Estia was truly magical. The villa was more beautiful than we ever imagined and there were so many kind and thoughtful touches throughout our stay. It truly felt like we were in another world - we said several times every day how lucky we felt to experience it.

Nido D'Estia is a beautiful villa situated so scenically in the elevated southeastern farmlands with distant views of the sea. Wonderfully furnished with comfortable furniture and beds and with the modern upgrades throughout the villa, our stay there was superb.
