Cala Due sits on the seafront about 4km outside the beautiful baroque town of Avola, whose shops, restaurants, cafés and other amenities are a 15-minute drive away (due to an obligatory right turn at the end of the access road to Cala Due, the drive takes a little longer than the actual distance would indicate). The old town centre of Avola, with its network of pretty streets, fine aristocratic palazzi and impressive churches, is well worth exploring.
Apart from the beach accessed via a 2-minute stroll from the bottom of the garden, there are many other beautiful stretches of sand to explore in the area, including those at Gallina, Oasi Gelsomineto and Fontane Bianche (all within a 5-to-10-minute drive. South of Avola, meanwhile, are the unspoilt beaches of Vendicari Nature Reserve, a favourite spot for migrating flamingos, and nesting sea turtles.
Not to be missed by anyone staying at Cala Due is the splendid masterpiece of Noto, arguably the most perfect of the baroque towns that constitute the UNESCO World Heritage Site of the Val di Noto. Rebuilt in flamboyant style following a major earthquake in 1693, these towns, which include Modica, Ragusa and Scicli, offer infinite opportunities for those who admire architectural and artistic beauty.
If hiking in the hills is your thing, then there is some spectacular scenery in the rushing streams and waterfalls of Cassibile and at the Paleolithic burial sites in the dramatic valley of, Pantalica.
Last, but certainly not least, is glorious, historic Syracuse, which is just half an hour's drive away. A day or two spent there, discovering its ancient Greek archaeological site and its enchanting island centre, Ortigia, is highly recommended.
A helicopter trip in Sicily over Etna and to the Aeolian Islands is a highly moving experience, enough to reduce grown men and women to tears! Book with us for a truly unforgettable addition to your Sicilian holiday.
DiscoverNero D’Avola, Cerasuolo di Vittoria, Frappato, Syrah and Moscato Bianco are just a few of the grape varieties cultivated in the Noto area, and we heartily recommend a vineyard visit during your stay. We know the right people and the most prestigious wineries in the area, and we’d be delighted to arrange a chauffeured wine tasting tour with lunch for you.
DiscoverThe southeastern tip of Sicily is home to mile after mile of largely unspoilt sandybeaches and an impressive list of UNESCO World Heritage Sites: Syracuse and the Rocky Necropolis of Pantalica, the towns ofthe Val di Noto, and Villa Romana del Casale.
DiscoverThe southeast of Sicily is famed for its superb tomatoes, cheeses, meat, olive oil, vegetables and seafood. Our culinary experiences in the area will enable you to transform these exquisite ingredients into some of southeast Sicily's most celebrated dishes.
DiscoverFrom here until the southeasternmost tip of Sicily, the coastline is an uninterrupted stretch of sandy beach, dotted with picturesque little resort towns, including Punta Secca (Inspector Montalbano's home), Marina di Ragusa, Donnalucata, Cava d'Aliga, Sampieri and Marina di Modica. The last strip, made up of several miles of dunes, is where the Allied forces landed in the 2nd World War. At the southernmost tip of Sicily is Isola Delle Correnti, offering an almost African scenario. Indeed, here we are considerably further south than Tunis.Just around the southeastern tip and heading north up the east coast, are the beaches of Marzamemi, San Lorenzo and Vendicari Nature Reserve. The reserve's salt water lagoons and varieties of flora offer the ideal habitat for a wide range of fauna, including nesting turtles and migrating flamingos.Continuing up the east coast, between Vendicari and the historic Greek town of Syracuse, are the popular sandy beaches of Marina di Noto, Calabernado, Marina di Avola, Gelsomineto, Fontane Bianche and Arenella.

What truly made Cala Due stand out was its impeccable design - every detail was thoughtfully crafted, blending luxury with comfort. And of course, having the beach just a short walk away was an absolute dream. Waking up to that paradise each day was simply magical. The proximity to the beach added a sense of serenity, and the daily service made the stay feel effortless. It felt like a private paradise, perfectly balanced between relaxation and beauty.

Everything was perfect for hanging out, especially outdoors. The pool, the dining area/lounging area, the beach, everything complemented each other. We particularly loved the twin houses as it meant everybody could customize their sleeping, and waking habits. We got hooked on the warm water outdoor shower.

Top marks for the standard of Cala Due and the garden. Having a daily maid service was just brilliant. The pool was lovely, the many places to sit in the garden and view of the sea fantastic. A nice short walk to the bay and headland.
