The Area

Alkioni sits in a privileged private position on the eastern side of the Mongonissi peninsula in the south of Paxos. At the bottom of the garden one may access the sea directly, while a short stroll will take you to Paxos' only sandy beach, popular with families thanks to the many facilities, including a lido, watersports and a couple of tavernas. A 15-minute drive north will take you up to Gaios Town, with its gentle buzz, its seafront tavernas and cafés and its shops boat hire opportunities. Gaios is the port of entry and departure, and also has frequent boat services to Corfu and Paxos' tiny sister island, Antipaxos. The picturesque little ports of Lakka and Laggos in the northern part of the island are also worth a visit either by car or by boat.

Paxos (measuring around 13km from north to south) is situated 15km south of Corfu and about 20km off the Greek mainland. It boasts some of the most stunning beaches anywhere in the Mediterranean and, as it's only accessible by ferry, has managed to remain relatively unspoilt by mass tourism.

The western seaboard of Paxos is dramatic, with cliffs, sea caves and stretches of rugged, rocky coastline, while the east coast is home to gentle sandy beaches and views of the Greek mainland. The hinterland is carpeted with olive groves, which produce some truly excellent oil.

A holiday on Paxos is all about relaxing and taking it easy, all the more so if you book one of our villas on the island.

Exploring the breathtaking coast by boat is a must and an excellent way to get to know the islands, stopping off for swims in secluded bays. The east of Paxos is gentle, with placid waters lapping pebbly beaches: the west has a more rugged, weather-beaten look that can only be fully appreciated from the water. Alikioni was idyllic and very comfortable. What stood out were the views and the well stocked kitchen. We would return.

Alkioni is a very special property and it truly shows through the level of detail in the landscaping around the property the level of care and personal attention to the property. The views from the house of the sea and mainland Greece are breathtaking. The private access to swim in the sea was one of my personal favorite amenities. The rooms all have shutters and AC. The layout of the house was very comfortable and I personally enjoyed the nights we would stay in for dinner. My dream would be to have another opportunity to revisit Alkioni for another exceptional vacation in the near future.

We loved that Alkioni was secluded, but only a short walk to Mongonissi Beach and its wonderful taverna. Also, it was excellently equipped. We had a peaceful week on a secluded piece of Paxos.

Villa Alkioni was the perfect place to relax. The villa was very well equipped and the view and proximity to the water were excellent. Even though it is quite isolated we loved the privacy and the amazing outlook. Will definitely recommend it to friends and family.
