Our guide to Paros

For many people, Paros is the most authentic of the Cyclades. One of the larger islands, it has something for everyone, young and old, partygoers and culture-seekers, bourgeois and bohemian.

Getting there

Fly to Athens and then either take a connecting flight to Paros (30mins) or a ferry from Piraeus (2hr50 - 4hr20).

Good to know

  • Surface area: 196km2 (approx)
  • Population: 13,800 (approx)
  • Best view: from Mount Agii Pantes (724m) in the centre of Paros
  • Must-see sight: Panagia Ekatontapiliani (the Church of 100 Doors) in Parikia is said to have been founded by Saint Helen, mother of Emperor Constantine
  • Curious fact: Parian ware porcelain is so-called because it resembles the fine-textured, highly prized white marble of Paros
